Set against the dramatic Santa Barbara Mountains, the clubhouse at Birnam Wood Golf Club was originally a packing house for one of California’s largest lemon ranches. Inspired by Spanish Colonial Revival architecture and the historic building’s character, the renovation enhances the club’s multigenerational appeal. The updated spaces align with the changing demographics of golf, attracting younger golfers and women. The reimagined entry, living room, event spaces, restaurant and bar, public restrooms, women’s locker room, and boardroom appeal to existing members and young families.

The clubhouse is a “home away from home†for members, starting with a transparent glass entry that draws in natural light. The interior design blends Montecito’s style with the historic building’s colors, textures, and materials. The new entry features barrel-vaulted ceilings, stone flooring, and rich wood details. The living room’s fireplace, with its arched Santa Barbara sandstone mantle, and feature walls evoke the packing house history. While The Packing House restaurant, with its wine display and rolling library ladder, adds an experiential flair. The design celebrates the historic lemon packing house’s legacy and Montecito’s elegance, ushering in a new era in golf.
