When Carlson Capital relocated their New York offices to Mies Van der Rohe’s iconic international-style Seagram Building, an important goal was to respect and highlight the classic architectural envelope. Using specialized materials, light, and art, a balance of function and elegance conveys a warm sense of hospitality to clients and guests. Along the perimeter, a historically designed and protected luminous ceiling system serves as inspiration for integrated lighting moments throughout the suite.
The conference room’s bespoke metal filigree screen is grazed by light, highlighting the organic geometry. The building core is clad in dark wood, serving as an anchor to the space and as a juxtaposition to the light-filled open office. Dramatic artwork at reception is illuminated by gallery quality lighting, and a custom-cast bronze high table in the refreshment area gleams alongside a custom commissioned sculptural ceramic backsplash installation. The trading floor offers user-friendly technology integration, acoustical tuning, and is planned for optimal visual connection and efficient communication across the team.
