With a rich history spanning over 100 years, Compton High School is a community icon known for producing music and athletic prodigies. Celebrating this legacy, our design creates a campus where students are empowered and fully engaged in their learning process; immersed in real-world environments that allow them to explore various interests and career paths.

Designed specifically for Compton High School, six learning suites advance interdepartmental collaboration and build stronger relationships between students, teachers, and administrators. These separate suites are linked together with moveable walls that open and close, allowing teachers and students to customize their spaces to easily support a variety of learning activities. The campus is organized around a grand diagonal pedestrian boulevard that expands the existing Compton civic core. Called the ‘Academic Boulevard’, this axis reaches toward the community’s civic center to the northeast and to a public park and regional bikeway to the southwest. At one end of the boulevard is a state-of-the-art Performing Arts Complex designed with and partially funded by Compton-native and producer Andre “Dr. Dre” Young. On the opposite end, new fitness and athletic venues celebrate the athletic legacy of Compton High School, providing new world-class competitive athletic facilities for football, baseball, soccer, swimming, tennis, and more.
