Terminal 1, owned by Port of Vancouver USA, is a waterfront mixed-use development, elevating living around the Port of Vancouver with a rich urban, pedestrian-friendly experience tied to the Columbia River. Located at the port’s historic facility, Terminal 1 features an AC Hotel by Marriott (designed by our firm), outdoor public space, street amenities, office, retail, and dining. Future phases include multifamily housing and a public marketplace.
The last phase of the project, Block A & C, includes two mid-rise office buildings, positioned on the northern portion of the mixed-use development site. The two office towers are striking yet complementary structures, one nine stories, and one ten stories, perched atop a shared landscaped platform. Pushed, pulled, and folded, the buildings create dynamic forms that introduce ground-level plazas and elevated roof decks at different levels, artfully distributing the building’s mass and blurring the line between public and private. A large terrace nicknamed “The Launch,” splits the two towers, extending a pedestrian axis from the waterfront recalling the site’s earlier wartime ship-building dry docks. Restaurants, retail, and a storefront art exhibition space lining the ground level create social opportunities, activating the street level. The development meets LEED Gold V4 standards for core and shell.
